German Battlegroups: Late Eastern Front

The Late Eastern Front covers the period April 1944 to May 1945 - the end of the Russian winter offensive of March 1944 to the final collapse and defeat of Germany and the capture of Berlin in May 1945.

As with my Russian battlegroups I'll keep a record of how they do as well as presenting some 'Lessons Learned' along the way.

Late War ('44-'45) 1005pts

This will give you a small combined arms force of one Infantry Battalion, one Medium Panzer Company and artillery support.

In order to field my Battle Groups I will need to purchase the following;

  • 1 CO
  • 2 HQ
  • 1 FAO
  • 9 Infantry Units
  • 3 x MG
  • 1 x Mortar
  • 1 x ATG (75/76mm)
  • 1 x Truck or Half-Tracked Vehicle
  • 3 x Medium Panzer Units (StuG-III long)
  • 2 Artillery Units (Nebelwerfer)

Battlegroup Options

These are units which are not in my official lists but which I can field to change things around a bit.

  • 4 Medium Panzer Units: 4 Pz-IV Long
  • 1 Medium Panzer Unit: 1 Pz-V Panther
