Terrain

Most generals, military writers and commentators constantly stress the importance of battlefield terrain. The terrain that we place on our wargames table is no less important than it is on a real battlefield since it strongly influences our strategy and tactics.

This section of my site will contain articles on how I model my own tabletop terrain.

"The natural formation of the country is the soldier's best ally." Sun Tzu

"The advantages of weather and season are not equal to those connected with ground." Ch`en Hao

"The best tank terrain is that without anti-tank weapons." - Russian military doctrine

Unfortunately, having only just started wargaming in this period I don't have much terrain to write about but I shall be adding my planned pieces to this page as and when they become available.

Fortifications

Although not technically 'terrain' in terms of geographical features, fortifications serve to either heighten or degrade the benefits of geography afforded to attackers and defenders. As such, they are inextricably related to terrain and their production will also be detailed on these pages.

Buildings

As with fortifications, buildings have a major role to play on the tabletop and although not geographical features they nonetheless fall under the 'terrain' definition. I'll be constructing my own buildings and detailing them here.
